Constanta International Airport

Constanta International Airport is a Romanian legal entity, joint stock company which was established in 1991 and develops it’s economical activity according to the Romanian laws.

At the moment this airport makes the connection with the most important airports from Europe, through charter or scheduled flights, operated by foreign airlines.

Constanta Airport is connected by direct services of over 30 airlines to more than 50 destinations from 15 countries.

Constanta is placed among the most important airports from Romania. It is a permanent ACI Europe member and it is an alternative airport for “Henry Conada” International Airport - Bucharest and other important airports from Eastern Europe.

Located in the North –North West side of the city of Constanta, the airports holds a geo-strategic position to the economic facilities of national and international interest, being located 26 km from the port of Constanta, in the vicinity of the Constanta South Free Zone, at 14 km distance from the Danube-Black Sea Navigable Canal and at approximately 100 km from the Danube Delta – the most representative and complex delta in Europe.

Also, Constanta is connected to an important road and road and railway transportation network – European roads E60 and E67, the highway Bucharest – Constanta and Bucharest-Constanta railway. Due to it’s position nearby the most important transportation network, Constanta International Airport could become an intermodal transportation apron and also an important base for the air cargo transport. Having a special geographic location this airport provides all conditions for turning into an important transit airport between Europe and Asia.

The airport is opened permanently for the air traffic ,for the entire period of the year and dispose of following facilities: Border Control, custom, 2 ground handling companies, 2 catering providers, 2 fuelling companies, exchange offices, post office, public phones, forwarding companies, VIP Terminal and General Aviation Terminal, duty-free shops, 150 parking stands.

The dimensions and the endurance of the airport infrastructure and the airport technical endowments (airfield lighting system, fire fighting, communications) that allows the landing and taking off of any type of aircrafts.

Constanta International Airport holds an operational capacity of 2 wide body or 3 narrow body aircraft per hour and 1.000.000 passengers per year.

The airports activity is directly reported to the economic development of the region. The studies elaborated by special institutions estimated that once with the development of economic activity, there will be a growth in the air traffic both for passengers and cargo.

Considering all this facts and also the big potential of the airport the managing team of Constanta International Airport has focused the major targets: growth of the passenger traffic (2015 – 1.500.000 passengers), to offer to it’s clients competitive and high quality airport services, to open new scheduled routes to Europe and other continents, to bring on new airlines.

The main investment objectives are to increase the safety level of operation, assurance of security activity of the airport as well as to increase the quality at services at international requirement. The strategic development program comprise: new investments( airport equipments, terminal cargo, cargo apron, runway and rolling ways, Domestic Flights Terminal, major repairs and modernization of RWY Lighting System, movement area( runway, taxiways and aprons), modernization of International Arrivals Terminal.
