Menzies Aviation plc is pleased to announce a second joint venture in India. Menzies, together with the Bobba Group, has today signed a non-exclusive cargo licence agreement with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL).

Menzies Aviation Bobba (Bangalore) Private Ltd, a joint venture company 49% owned by Menzies and 51% owned by the Bobba Group, will build, own and operate one of two cargo warehouses at the new Bangalore airport, which is currently under construction and due to open in April 2008.

BIAL, a joint venture company set up by Siemens Project Ventures, Unique Zurich Airport, Larsen & Toubro, KSIIDC and the Airport Authority of India to build the new Bangalore airport, has granted a 20-year concession to Menzies Aviation Bobba (Bangalore) Private Ltd, in a market restricted to two warehouse operators until the airport reaches a total relevant throughput of 300,000 tonnes.

The Bobba Group is an established and well respected Indian company with business interests in aviation, hydroelectric power generation and care homes. They have many years of experience at airports across India and are a multi-award winning General Sales Agent for Lufthansa Cargo.

Paul Smith, Regional Director, Menzies Aviation plc commented, “Menzies is proud to have completed this deal in Bangalore in conjunction with the Bobba Group. The face of Indian airports and aviation is changing dramatically and we are now very much involved in that process. The fact that we have signed two cargo agreements at the two most exciting airport developments in India is a real success for Menzies.”
